Bob Mountain Joins D3 as Chief Commercial & Revenue Officer

We’re excited to welcome Bob Mountain as Chief Commercial & Revenue Officer at D3. Bob brings nearly two decades of experience operating at the core of the global domain aftermarket. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Global Strategic Partnerships at GoDaddy, and prior to that spent five years as Chief Revenue Officer at Afternic, where he helped build the commercial and registrar infrastructure that powers much of today’s domain resale market.

His appointment comes as D3 looks to enter the next phase of growth and scale the DomainFi infrastructure through Doma Protocol.

The Landscape of the Domain Industry Is Changing

The domain industry has always been built on trust, relationships, and proven systems. That foundation is precisely what has allowed it to endure for decades. However, the landscape is changing. Through Doma, D3 is extending the existing domain ecosystem into new financial and distribution layers through tokenization and the blockchain technology, all while remaining fully DNS- and registrar-compliant.

As we head into this new era, we need proven leaders who can provide expert stewardship. Bob Mountain has spent his career at the intersection of registrars, marketplaces, and investors. He understands how this industry actually in practice works at scale.

At Afternic, Bob helped shape the commercial rails that enabled domains to be discovered, priced, and transacted across a distributed registrar network. At GoDaddy, he operated at the center of global partnerships connecting registrars, investors, and platforms.

As Fred Hsu, CEO & Co-Founder of D3, put it:

“Bob’s deep relationships across the domain industry make him the ideal leader to scale our commercial strategy. His experience building industry-standard platforms and registrar networks will be critical as we unlock new markets on Doma.”

A New Beginning

Since Doma’s mainnet launch in 2025, D3 has:

  • Onboarded registrar partners including InterNetX, NicNames, and EnCirca
  • Enabled tokenization across 30M+ domains under management
  • Launched 40+ domain tokens for premium assets like software.ai and brag.com
  • Driven over 1.2M onchain transactions and $27M in trading volume

Now, with Bob onboard, he will strengthen our ability to scale up our efforts responsibly. In his own words:

“This isn’t about disrupting or replacing the domain industry. At Doma we are expanding the industry’s capabilities. By bringing DNS-compliant tokenization to registrars, we can unlock fractional ownership, instant settlement, and global liquidity while preserving the relationships and frameworks that make this industry function.”

His mandate is clear:

  • Unify commercial execution across partnerships, sales, and business development
  • Expand registrar integrations globally
  • Establish D3 and Doma as the default infrastructure for domain tokenization and monetization

We’re thrilled to have Bob on board as we continue building the infrastructure layer for programmable, liquid domain ownership.

A warm welcome to Bob as our newest team member! 👋
